Yeah, it is a bit expensive... and my eclipse gt certainly isnt a hybrid, although I am looking into HHO or Browns Gas as an option. But, the reason I commute is there aren't many IBM mainframe companies down in Joco (the only one I know of is Sprint, and I wouldn't work for them no matter what the pay). And then of course my other option would be downtown KC, and the commute would suck. So, my commute to KCI is normally uneventful and takes about 35-40 minutes each way. And while the money could be better (of course), its good enough right now that I can afford to keep up the commute.

From Olathe to KCI and back every day?!?

That is the longest commute that can possibly be considered within the Greater KC Metro area.

No matter what kind of car you have (short of a hybrid) that's two tanks a week. Let's be conservative and call it $100.00 a week (assuming you have no life and ONLY travel to and from work). That is $400-$500 a month just in gas. That's a cover charge just for the luxury of having a job.

Dude!

You have to either find a closer job or move.

That's just nucking futs!

Funny how that works. One of the people in my building has a great pyrennes?, a huge white dog, must go 180 or better. My yorkie has bum rushed that dog several times, thankfully the dogs which can do the most damage, seem to be the least likely to do it.

I agree that the Constitution is as (or more) important than the Declaration of Independence. But the thing is, we wouldn't have created a Constitution without breaking from England. And the September 17 date is the date it was signed by the convention, not the date it became law. That didn't happen for almost another year when New Hampshire ratified it. But like I said, I think both dates should be celebrated.. I just think without the 4th of July, you don't have a 17th of September.

I look at it a bit differently than you do. I think the real celebration should be Sept 17, Constitution Day. It seems to me the 13 states were semi independent in a loose confederation until the Constitution came into being. It really was the birth of the country as we know it and live it today. Not to say that the 4th has no validity, I just don't think its as important as Constitution Day.

I agree XO, it wouldn't even have to be full guard rails. Crossover accidents are probably 99% preventable. The reasons I've seen for KS not using either guard rails or the steel cables down the median is maintenance cost. I guess us folks in KS have to wait for some group like MADD (whom I despise) or the insurance industry to force the state to do it. The government doesn't listen to the average citizen, unless they group together and donate lots of money to campaign funds.

In Missouri we have cables strung in the grass median between the lanes specifically to prevent crossovers.

It works.
